Can I file a comlpaint against my landlord for personal injury?

I was walking down the stairs leading to the laundry room and slipped on some water on the stairs. Fell and severely sprained my ankle and broke my foot. Can I file a complaint against my landlord for personal injury?

All property owners are responsible for keeping their property in reasonably safe condition. If the landlord knew or should have known of a hazard and failed to take steps to correct it, even though he had time to do so, then he can be held legally liable for injuries that could foreseeably result. Of course, evidence for all of those factors will be required

If the landlord was negligent you can. Do you know where the water came from? Was it the landlord's fault? You can sue another tenant, too, but it wouldn't be worthwhile unless they have renter's insurance.
